Food Allergies – The Signs And Symptoms On Infants And Children

Food allergies are the hypersensitivity reactions of the immune system to a naturally harmless substance present in the food. This denotes that prior to any allergic reaction; the individual has to be exposed to the allergen before. During the initial exposure, the allergen rouses the lymphocytes to generate the IgE antibody that works specifically with the type of allergen.

The produced IgE is discharged and then attached to the mast cells that exist in the various body tissues. For the next round that the allergic person takes in the same food, the allergens prompt the IgE antibody which are present on the surface of most of the mast cells and therefore trigger the release of the chemicals like the histamine. The symptoms that come around generally depend on the kind of tissue that releases the antibody.
